Your host is Martin Jennings of Pothecary Gin, Christchurch, who will guide you through the variety of gin styles he makes whilst you are enjoying them on the tour.

Smuggling was one of Christchurch’s most lucrative ‘industries’ during the 18th and 19th centuries. Proximity to the Cherbourg Peninsula and only two (often out of use) bridges for land crossing which allowed leisurely get aways made Christchurch an appealing spot for the smugglers. Find out more about the harbours fascinating history on the tour.

Pothecary Gin was created by two friends who share a passion for organic, handcrafted, artisan produce. Martin Jennings and Lukasz Dwornik use the unusual process of distilling each botanical separately, and then blending them together before dilution, which yields optimum quality and incomparable aromas and flavours, producing an exciting gin that’s both well-balanced and refreshingly individual. The pair worked together for several years, Martin as a Wine Development Specialist and Lukasz as a Senior Hospitality Manager. One night whilst having a fairly mediocre G&T after work they decided that they could do better.
