Jurassic Cottage Food can be found in Swanage and produce a range of traditional, nostalgic, vintage and wartime food and drink.
Our passion for nostalgic foods began with our mothers and grandmothers planting the seeds on how traditional cooking can be inspiring and absolutely delicious without having to use complicated recipes with long lists of ingredients. Our personal interests have always looked backwards into history, the immense sacrifice, suffering and hardships in the past have led to the best of our national character and pride showing through, plus food and drink has always brought people together. With fantastic regional variations and specialties, you’ll find a wide range of products, many of which are vegan, vegetarian and gluten free.
Jurassic Cottage Food launched in December 2012 to a surprising level of acceptance and enthusiasm. Fast forward to today, we now attend many events from the smaller village fetes and farmers’ markets to larger agricultural and vintage events and a few things in between.
In line with many people during the wars and other trying times, we forage certain items from the wild and create our recipes are traditional and made using traditional methods. Some of the results include Nettle Cordials, Wild Garlic Concentrate and Blackberry Jam to name a few.
The team at Jurassic Cottage Food grow as much ourselves as we can to help our stock of top quality organic fruit and vegetables, and to lower our carbon footprint and food miles. Our product range includes jams, marmalades, pickles, chutneys and several seasonal products as well as producing our Ministry of Nostalgic Foods, where you can try traditional wartime treats including carrot jam and parsnip marmalade.
The range includes fresh items, traditional lemonade and fresh fruit cups, as well as seasonal produce, such as mulled wine and chestnuts at Christmas time and hot food at certain events around the county. Find out more on our website.
