Downhouse Farm is an organic farm on the National Trust's Golden Cap Estate comprising of 380 acres of coastal land. Run by Nikki and Dean Exton, it is a beautiful spot producing fine beef, lamb and pork.
All the livestock at Downhouse Farm are reared to the high organic standards set by the Soil Association. Since becoming organic, our fields produce a healthy mixture of grasses, clovers and herbage perfect for rearing stock and producing hay for animal feed. The quality of the food reflects in the taste of our meat products, from our free range pork to our Aberdeen Angus Beef and lamb, you can really taste the difference between our products and those that haven’t been reared in an open, organic space. Part of our ethos is using the right breeds alongside good, skilled and considerate farming practices to ensure animal welfare and good, healthy food.
We use a small local family abattoir and the meat is then returned to the farm where it is prepared and packaged by our excellent onsite butchers.
You can buy our quality beef, bacon, lamb, pork and sausages from our online shop which offers a variety of flavours and cuts at affordable prices. This is in addition to our other home made products which includes faggots and Italian style meatballs. You can also sample our products by visiting the farm and spending time at our Garden Café which is stocked with a range of products made from the finest local ingredients, including those from the farm itself. Enjoy incredible views of Lyme Bay and West Dorset with a touch of alfresco dining at the Garden Café. The menu consists of no nonsense comfort food as well as a selection of home baked cakes and scones.
The farm is a haven for wildlife with stunning wild flower meadows alive with butterflies, insects and birds. Criss-crossed by footpaths, it's a great place to start or finish a walk. Why not stay over by booking a break at our campsite? Check the website for details.
