Cranborne Chase Cider

Multi-award winning Cranborne Chase Cider are based on their family farm near Cashmoor in the heart of the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Myncen Farm has been run by the Meaden family for three generations and has gone through a fair amount of change over the years.
Originally a mixed farm with arable & a beef herd the farm later developed into dairy and a outdoor pig unit. Myncen farm is now under many conservation schemes providing a diverse range of habitats for wildlife on a working arable farm. The farm has taken many different routes of diversification to make it a viable family business.
Cranborne Chase Cider have recently planted 170 standard cider & dessert apple trees on ground managed by them for local estate Rushmore. They also have been managing a once neglected 35 year old standard cider orchard which provides the important Brown’s Apple for their blend.
At current production levels they don’t have enough fruit so source extra apples from local orchards throughout Dorset.
They produce still farmhouse cider and a range of carbonated bottled ciders. The cider is made from all natural ingredients and are gluten free, vegan friendly & contain no added sulphites.
Their cider is stocked in pubs & shops throughout Dorset & can also be found at a number of the county’s music festivals & events.
Cranborne Chase Cider have their own mobile bar ‘The Cider Shack’ which is available for hire for private parties and events.
Cider is available to purchase from the on-farm shop, ‘The Original Cider Shack’ which is a traditional shepherds hut jam packed with all their goodies. To find them take the A354 to Cashmoor and then just follow the ‘Cider’ signs. The shop regularly stocks traditional still cider in two, four & eight pint cartons & ten & twenty litre bag-in-box.
To accompany the still cider Cranborne Chase Cider also produce seven sparkling ciders, five in 500ml bottles and two 750ml bottles.
The 500ml range vary from Dry to Sweet & 4.5% up to 6.8%.
Their Vintage cider is aged in oak barrels for extra depth of flavour!
In the 750ml bottles you will find Dorsecco a medium sweet naturally sparkling 5.3% Keeved cider & their medium dry farmhouse Perry.
There is often fresh produce to purchase; Pumpkins in October, Christmas Trees in December, kindling throughout the winter months, home made jams, chutneys & free-range eggs when the hens are behaving themselves!
If you are looking for somewhere to stay then Myncen Farm might be the place! With the farms collection of original shepherds huts you can embrace the country life with ‘Rustic Stays’ and spend a night or two by the campfire with a glass of cider.
The farm is also the home of ‘Dorset Bench Hire’, so you can test out the picnic benches whilst drinking cider.
Should cider not be your thing, then there is plenty to keep you entertained with the family farm hosting a number of events throughout the year. One not too miss if you enjoy your music is Last of the Summer Cider! This is a two day event held over a Friday evening and Saturday in September. Camping is advised so you can indulge in the local drink & food being served.
The farm has a long history & featured on Time Team in 2004 'Bodies on the Cranborne Chase or Brimming with Remains', to celebrate these archeological finds there is a small shepherd’s hut museum which you might get to see if you are lucky.
The iron age round house also attracts a lot of attention from visitors curious to know more about the local history.
