Brace of Pheasants

"The Brace" is the very definition of a traditional rural country Inn. The building is 16th Century and a former Blacksmiths, along with 2 cottages. In the 1950's the building was converted to a pub although sadly in 1979 it burnt down. The pub was rebuilt but without any accommodation.

When Phil and Carol Bennett took over in 2006, they converted the old skittle alley which had been unused for many years, as well as the upstairs of the pub into 4 star accommodation. The Brace now has eight 4* Bed & Breakfast letting rooms.

Fantastic food and fine wines as well as beers served straight from the cask are all part of the experience at the Brace. They pride themselves on serving local produce, aiming to source all food and drinks as closely as possible. They offer an ever changing menu and specials board to offer customers only fresh and seasonal food.

As you would expect being in the heart of Dorset, the kitchens at Brace of Pheasants makes use of the fabulous produce that is right on their doorsteps. The menus change with the seasons and features everything from locally landed fish, locally shot game and bread from nearby Bridport.

With the rolling Dorset countryside just outside the front door, why not pop in for a bite to eat after a walk or book one of the rooms to really give you time to explore the stunning Dorset coast and countryside. The inn can be found in the small village of Plush, which is between Sherborne and Dorset.

As well as being a picturesque accommodation and eatery, Brace of Pheasants also acts as a venue for weddings and other events. The building is available for exclusive hire whether that is for a private party, corporate function or wedding venue.
