Brace of Pheasants named as one of Britain’s best pubs

Brace of Pheasants has been named as one of Britain’s best pubs for 2020 according to the Good Pub Guide. They are one of just three pubs located in Dorset that have featured in this year’s guide.

The pubs chosen are all hand picked by officials from the Good Pub Guide Awards, which singles out the very best drinking spots across the UK. The guide, which is in its 38th year, is distributed nation-wide.

Brace of Pheasants made it into the top ten of the Country Pub of the Year category. The pub, which can be found in between Sherborne and Dorchester, was first built in the 16th century and was originally a blacksmith’s workshop before being converted into a pub in the 1950s. These days the pub remains the very definition of a rural country inn offering B&B accommodation, fantastic food and delectable drinks. The ever-changing seasonal menu and the list of wines and beers are all locally sourced and feature only the best of Dorset’s produce.

As well as being a fabulous spot for a bit of respite while out exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside, Brace of Pheasants is also a comfortable place to stay giving you easy access to countryside, the towns of Sherborne and Dorchester. The owners, Phil and Carol, are welcoming and always happy to impart their local knowledge on their guests.
